Greg Hester - "Gansta of Soul"

Greg Hester has enough Soul Power to fill Madison Square Garden on a good night. This Augusta, GA native heeded his calling at the ripe old age of three wooing the local bridge club with his riveting version of "Boom Boom Ain't it Great to Be Crazy." And he hasn't slowed down since.

After Twenty Two years in the business he has perfectly crafted a seamless mix of southern soul and jump up and dance rock n roll. He takes even the most jaded of crowds and captivates them with his charismatic and awe-inspiring voice. He is known for his true conviction that emulates itself in his powerful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and an energy that would rival even the Godfather of Soul himself.

Known not only as a singer/songwriter & Producer, Hester is equally at home orchestrating a twelve-piece band. Hester has lent his talents to several well known local bands in Atlanta Georgia including: Unknown 228, Felix Love, Hester's Dictionary, Swift Monkey, Air-Conditioned Gypsies, Strangebirds & The Suicide Kings.

His years of hard work and search for perfection have landed him shows with Drivin' N' Cryin', Five For Fighting, Johnny Winter, Warren Zevon, Hank Williams Jr., Commander Cody, Tuck and Patti, David Lindley, Robin Trower, Warren Haynes, and Tower of Power. He has also been seen in Atlanta at The Dogwood Festival and Music Midtown.

Currently he is on the road rockin his heart out; as well as producing The James Brown Tribute Album due out in 2009. This album combines the talents of Eric McConnell (Loretta Lynn “Van Lear Rose”); Keith Jenkins (JBB); The James Brown Band; legendary emcee Danny Ray; Fred Wesley (JBB); Raul Malo (The Mavericks); and Ivan Neville. He is also in pre-production on the long awaited Jazz album by the famed Danny Ray.
